Which trees are protected in Stirling?

Stirling Council has a VOLUNTARY Significant Tree Register established under Local Planning Scheme No. 3 (LPP6.17), adopted 15 October 2024, effective 22 October 2024 (via Scheme Amendment No. 113). Trees qualify if they meet EITHER: DBH ≥250mm OR canopy diameter ≥10m OR height ≥4m (minimum height approximately 4m). Only trees NOMINATED and APPROVED for the register are protected on private land. Not a blanket protection — council-level rule applies only to registered trees. Once registered, Section 70A notification is placed on title; development approval required for any removal/destruction/interference.
